Vote Zach Duckworth for Lakeville School Board

Zach and his wife Carly are long time Lakeville residents and graduates of Lakeville High School (before there was a North and a South). As products of the Lakeville schools they went on to attend college at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul where their preparation in High School was a substantial advantage. Lakeville teachers and staff did a tremendous job equipping them for the academic rigor of college and also saved them thousands of dollars by helping them complete and pass several AP classes which were accepted as college credits. As lifelong learners, Zach and Carly eventually went on to earn MBAs from St. Thomas as well. Much of their academic success stems from their experience in the Lakeville School District which fuels Zach's passion to contribute to the district's legacy of excellence.
As a parent in the district, Zach is committed to supporting superb programs such as Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Small Wonders Preschool, Wonder Zone, Kid Zone, and Summer Adventures - all of which are vital to the young and growing families of our community.
Equally as important are the Special Education Services provided by the district which serves approximately 1,600 students with a variety of needs. The staff and educators that run these programs are amazing professionals who often go unnoticed.

For many years after graduating Zach has continued to help coach the Lakeville North Mock Trial Team, a program he participated in as a student. Zach has an uncompromising passion for extracurricular activities, athletics, fine arts, and clubs as he has seen first hand the impact such programs have on students - leadership development, critical thinking skills, public speaking ability, etc. - these programs are often the hidden gem within our district that give our students a competitive advantage in life.

A regular visitor to classrooms, clubs, and fine arts groups Zach enjoys speaking to students about leadership and preparing for life after graduation. There is no better way to positively influence the youngest members of our community than direct interaction and the fostering of personal relationships.

Zach's involvement in various activities such as Student Council in addition to his experience as Senior Class President while in High School instilled in him a sense of service and obligation to give back, so much so, that he continues to serve as an Infantry Officer in the Minnesota Army National Guard where he commands an Infantry Company while also volunteering as a Firefighter on the Lakeville Fire Department. His service in the military, as well as, his training as a first responder make his insights regarding school safety and security invaluable. Zach is committed to keeping our children, teachers, and staff safe and he has the credentials that demonstrate he can contribute to such decisions based on his first hand experience. Zach's passion for service and desire to positively impact others is the driving force behind him running for Lakeville School Board.
By putting the students and community first, supporting teachers and staff, and planning for growth while managing the bottomline Zach is excited to see the Lakeville Area Public Schools, ISD 194, continue its legacy of excellence.
